What We Do
Friends of CERT seek out financial and in-kind donative grants and gifts to support the needs of (Community Emergency Response Team) volunteers. Our goal is to provide small items such as safety gear for on-scene responders, to protein and hydration supplies for firefighters, law enforcement, first responders and all others who need support at critical incident scenes. Friends of CERT are also committed to the support of disaster preparedness training of community members and continuous training for volunteers in a very wide range of emergency situations. We recently closed our capital campaign to purchase a new, custom built emergency response trailer. It's here and ready to go!

Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, state and local government officials across the nation, increased opportunities for citizens to become volunteers and play integral roles in supporting emergency responders.
In January 2002, President George W. Bush launched the Citizens Corps volunteer program to capture the spirit of service that emerged throughout our communities following the terrorist attacks. In 2005, Wisconsin became part of the nationally recognized Citizens Corps. Originally established regionally, Emergency Managers felt the best interest of our communities would be served locally. This created the birth of the Outagamie County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Friends of CERT supports the Outagamie County Community Emergency Response Team, a group of volunteers who respond to emergency situations in support of emergency responders. CERT provides (among many other things) hydration, nutrition, cooling in hot weather, warmth in cold weather, and shelter from the elements.
