For Immediate Release

Friends of CERT (FOCERT) was created as a mechanism to support the needs of the Outagamie County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Friends of CERT (FOCERT) is a 501c3, non-profit, non-member Wisconsin organization that supports the financial and in-kind donative needs of CERT volunteers.

On June 20, 2023, FOCERT kicked off a Capital Campaign to raise $135,000 for the purchase of a new response trailer to enhance the safety of our volunteers and the first responders we support. Our current trailer was donated to the group by the Appleton Fire Department. Although the vehicle looks great, the mechanical components have seen their age and were not designed for our functionality creating some safety and operational challenges. Our goal is to purchase a new response trailer, allowing for a safer and more consistent response. Partnered with our new Ford F-350 tow vehicle, safety, and operations will be significantly enhanced.

Our capital campaign has been successful, and we now can announce MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Through a wonderful grant from our partners at Outagamie County with ARP (America Recovery Plan) funding, matching fund start up by Festival Foods, a donation from Thrivent and contributions from a host of people including local service groups, fire and EMS/first responders, and the citizens of Outagamie County, we have reached our goal.

The new trailer has been ordered and is scheduled for delivery during the third quarter of 2024. On behalf of the Friends of CERT board and all the members of the Outagamie County CERT team, we would like to thank over 50 local groups and individuals who have donated to this cause. Your donation will provide CERT with the opportunity to continue to serve our community.

CERT’s motto is “Neighbors helping Neighbors.” CERT has been an integral part of emergency response for our county first responders providing an invaluable service of nourishment and rehab during emergencies. Additional information about CERT can be found on our website at www.focert.org or our Facebook page Friends of Cert, Inc. For additional information, please contact Gene Reece, FOCERT Chairman, 920-585-0994 or at outagamiefocert@gmail.com.

Together, WE believe we can enhance “Neighbors helping Neighbors.”
